Oe. Studio Shop, Rønne, Denmark

In 2018 Mia Lerssi opened her own shop with a small studio space.

She sold handmade design in glass and ceramics. Her own designs and other people’s handmade and crafted designs; Maria Liliegren, Muri Clay Everyday, Nobel Design, Oh Oak, Studio Sybrandy and Zelmer Olsen amongst others.

The studio space turned out to be too small, and when the time came to sign a prolonged contract for the space she decided to make it different.

Mia named her shop Oe. Studio Shop and Oe. is now her label for her functional designs. For many years Mia knew that she would name ‘something’ Oe. Through the years she found many small reasons that confirmed her in the use of that name. Here are a few of them…

´Oe´ is short for Oersted (Ørsted) – a measuring unit for magnetisms. She thought it would be a nice metaphor for the sensual attraction between human and materiality!

The danish translation of the word ‘Island’ is ‘ø’.

‘Ø’ is a letter in our Danish alphabet, but at the same time it also means ‘island’.

Since Mia live on an island she thought it was appropriate!
