With Love From China – Black Edition

Sensual Materiality

The series of 10 sculptural objects are made in 2010 within this frame:

Commercial craft based productions have for a while been outsourced to the

Far East, in order to supply Western modern homes with competitive cheap

goods in the need of supplying and full filling our democratic right, to fill our

homes with material beauty and comfort. The piece ‘With Love from China’

responds on the contemporary situation where European glass manufactures,

amongst other manufactures, are forced to close and craft based productions

are being outsourced in order to stay competitive and survive on the market.

In this piece we picture a scenario where all European knowledge and traditions

of crafts and production has been lost and we as consumers can only buy the

goods manufactured in the Far East. We take this radical position in order to

visualize an extreme situation that almost is reality today. In order to create

in this imaginative position, we create with the goods we can buy back from

the Far East in our local stores. We use the economically competitive produced

items and use them as elements for creation of a new body of work.
